In the state of Colorado there is currently a battle waging between students and administrators. This battle is being fought over standardized tests that are to be administered in the subjects of science and social studies. The tests are used to gain a better understanding of high school seniors’ mastery of the subjects and will be used to set forth the curriculum. However, the students say they’ve had enough and believe that the standardized tests do not take into account what they’re actually being taught in the classroom and are merely, testing for testing sake.
With this sentiment from students and push back from parents it’s apparent that the standardized testing is under intense scrutiny in Colorado and only time will tell how the situation unfolds.
